LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 18: Occupants of a bus and a car were looted in two separate incidents in the vicinity of Lakki Marwat police station, police said here on Monday.
A businessman and his colleague was deprived of Rs211,000 by three armed men near Wanda Kalan as they were going back to Serai Naurang after concluding a business trip in the Lakki city. Their car was intercepted on the Lakki-Bannu road.
Local police chased the looters after they were informed about the incident. They were stopped at a point between KakaKhel and Abakhel. An encounter ensued in which one of the looters was injured. All of the robbers were arrested, recovering the looted amount along with a pistol, a gun and a hand grenade. A case was registered against them under section 17/3 and 324 of the PPC.
Meanwhile, a Bannu-Lahore bus (513-BKA) was waylaid by three armed robbers, travelling in the guise of passengers. They forced the bus driver, Mohammad Nawaz, to drive the vehicle off the road and park inside a dry water channel only a hundred metres away from the Lakki police lines.
Robbers then spent two hours depriving passengers of valuables and cash.
Victims of the bus robbery said that they could clearly see policemen wandering in front of them but they took no notice of the ongoing crime.
Police have lodged a report under Section 382 of the PPC against unknown robbers.
