MUZAFFARABAD, Nov 16: At least eight people were killed and four others injured after they fell into River Jhelum on Sunday, witnesses said.

The victims were attempting to cross the river near Tandali village in the afternoon by using a rope, which suddenly broke.

The bodies were fished out by the local people.

The witnesses said 23 youngsters were clinging to the rope when it broke.

The rocks in the riverbed were believed to have caused the deaths and injuries.
