ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan said on Saturday the increase in the number of officials in the high commissions of Pakistan and India were insufficient.

He urged India to restore the position of December 2000, when there was 110 officials each in both high commissions. “If India was sincere in opening visa centres, then the number of officials may be restored to the level of December 2000”, he added.

Both countries have developed a consensus that the number of officials in their high commissions would be 55 each.

The issuing of visas for concerned officials were in process, he told a local TV channel.

Answering a question he said, at the moment Pakistan’s three missions were working in Jalalabad, Khandhar and Mazar-e-Sharif. He showed his apprehensions on opening of Indian missions in Khost and Bamyan, saying, India could not justify these increased activities.—APP
