HYDERABAD, Nov 15: The Sindh High Court restrained the police from arresting deputy superintendent of the Hyderabad central prison, Aijaz Hyder, in the custodial killing case of an under trial prisoner, Mehmood Khoso.

Mr Hyder surrendered before the court through his counsel, Qurban Ali Chohan, and Justice Zawar Hussain Jafri issued directive to the police not to arrest him till Nov 20.

The report of judicial inquiry conducted in the custodial killing case under the directives of the SHC by then sessions judge Hyderabad, Parkash Lal Ambwani, was not available.

The court was informed by an assistant advocate-general that he was just provided with a copy of the report which needed to be examined.

The applicant’s counsel claimed that in the same matter the name of Malik Altaf Hussain, then jail superintendent, had been dropped whereas another accused of the case, Aurangzeb Kango, was granted bail.

Hyder’s bail application was earlier rejected by sixth additional district judge.

Earlier, Justice Mohammad Roshan Essani of the SHC, Hyderabad circuit bench, had granted protective pre-arrest bail to him.
