SIALKOT, Nov 14: The supply of fresh vegetables and fruits to the city remained suspended for the third consecutive day on Friday due to traders strike against the murder of one of their colleagues.
A large number of traders, middlemen and shopkeepers of fruit and vegetable market said the strike would continue till the arrest of the killers.
People were forced to buy stale vegetable and fruit at inflated rates from the shops in muhallahs and streets. They urged the district government and Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) to take steps for ensuring supply of fresh vegetable and fruit.
One of the shopkeepers, Saeed Khan, was killed during a bid on the life of Anjuman Arhtiyaan president Munir Ahmad three days ago.
SCCI: The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) provided commodities worth Rs1 million at its special Ramazan bazaar for provision to 2,500 families of industrial workers at subsidised rates, said a press release.
