HYDERABAD, Nov 13: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Wednesday on a contempt of court application directed the Regional Transport Authority secretary to call a meeting of the transport authorities and the DPO and hear grievances of three transporters.

The court said the matter should be decided in 15 day and a report be submitted to the court.

In the main petition, the petitioners had challenged the plying of buses by the Shaheen Express on the ground that they were being run without approved routes and permits. They said the transport service was illegally using bus stands and had also established an illegal bus stand at an amenity plot owned by a doctor.

The transporters had filed the contempt of court plea against DPO A. D. Khwaja, Provincial Transport Authority secretary Makhdoom Shakiluzzaman, RTA secretary Makhdoom Aqeeluzzaman and other officials, including the TPOs of Latifabad, Site and Traffic and the Site SHO for allegedly violating an order of the high court passed on Sept 11.

In the accompanying affidavit of the plea, the applicants said their earlier petition was disposed of by the court on Sept 11, which directed the DPO, PTA and RTA secretaries and the district revenue officer to hear grievances of the parties and redress the same in accordance with law.

They said no action was taken by the authorities concerned despite they repeatedly approached the respondents.

The respondent police officials in their separate statements denied violating the court order.

The acting DPO, operations, Fareed Jan Sarhandi, said he had received no notice directing to hold a meeting between the two parties.
