HYDERABAD, Nov 13: The president, Wapda Hydro Electric Labour Union, Abdul Latif Nizamani, has said that the officials of Wapda had adopted a policy of divide and rule and the authority is trying to resolve the problems of the workers on the basis of personal likes and dislikes.
According to a spokesman of the Hydro Union, Mr Nizamani said this at a meeting of the joint works committee held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of the chief engineer, Hesco, Rasheed Ahmed Khan.
The meeting discussed the pending issues of TA/DA and forced retirement of the employees.
The union president criticized the indifferent attitude of the officials in deciding the move-over and selection grade and promotion cases of the employees and their postings near their homes.
He urged Wapda officials to resolve all the problems in consultation with the CBA union and offered his full cooperation in furtherance of this objective.
Mr Nizamani stressed the need for holding safety committee meetings regularly.
The chief executive, Hesco, Tariq Arshad, who was also present, took strong exception to the delay in resolving the problems of Hesco employees and warned the directors of strict action if any genuine complaint was brought to his notice.
He stressed the need for cordial relations between the CBA union and the Hesco administration.
The director, Labour, Wapda, Shabbir Ahmed, also attended the meeting.
SEMINAR: The vice-chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, has urged the social welfare sector, including NGOs, to engage the university students in rural development projects for creating awareness among the masses.
He was speaking at a one-day seminar on “Awareness about AIDS and hepatitis-B” organized by the department of social work, University of Sindh, and the Provincial AIDS Control Programme at the Allama I.I. Kazi Library in Jamshoro the other day.
Pointing out that AIDS and hepatitis were deadly diseases, the VC said that the people must be motivated to take preventive measures against the diseases.
He said that students belonging to rural areas, were better equipped for the purpose than the others.
