Dutiable imports

ISLAMABAD, Nov 13: The value of dutiable imports increased by 17 per cent during the July-October period of the current financial year, over the same period last year.

Official figures released by the Central Board of Revenue here on Thursday showed that the value of dutiable imports stood at Rs165.8 billion during the period under review against Rs141.7 billion during the same period last year, showing an increase of Rs24.1 billion.

The value of total imports stood at Rs251.753 billion during the first four months of the current financial year against Rs230.617 billion during the same period last year, showing an increase of 9.2 per cent.

On the other hand, the value of duty-free imports stood at Rs85.953 billion as against Rs88.917 billion, showing a decline of 3.3 per cent.

An official at the CBR said the increase registered in the value of dutiable imports resulted in an increase of 37.6 per cent in the customs duty collection.
