RAWALPINDI, Nov 12: Saeed bin Nasir and Muhammad Ramzan scored half centuries on Wednesday as KRL put on 298 for five before declaring their innings closed on the first day of their Patron’s Trophy qualifying round game against POF.
After being asked to bat first at the KRL Stadium, Ramzan stroked a fine 75, hammering 12 fours on the way while Saeed smashed eight boundaries and a six in scoring 88. Asif Mahmood was the other batsman to shine with an innings of 47.
Leg spinner Shafik Khan was the pick of the bowlers claiming three for 78 runs.
When stumps were drawn, 2.5 overs before the scheduled close because of bad light, POF were three for no loss.
In another match, ARL’s left arm spinner Alamgir Khan took six wickets for just 29 runs in a dazzling spell to dismiss Army for 165 at the Army Cricket Ground.
Babar with 35 and Zia Niazi who scored 31 runs were the main scorers for Army.
Yasir Arafat then hit an unbeaten 63 to power ARL to 109 for two by the close of play. Zubair Watto captured both the wickets for 17 runs.
