LARKANA, Nov 10: Teachers recruited through the public service commission (PSC), under the middle school project in Larkana, demonstrated outside the press club on Monday demanding their five-month salaries.

Shaman Junejo and Manzoor Kalhoro, who led the protest, said that despite being recruited through the PSC, the director general of the project had withheld their salaries for the last five months.

They alleged that the finance department was also stopping salaries from being released on one pretext or another.

The teachers staged a sit-in outside the office of the executive district officer (education) and submitted a memorandum.

They also met with the DCO, Larkana, Dr Badruddin Ujjan, who later contacted the additional secretary. The latter assured the teachers that their problem would be resolved.

PROTEST: Primary school teachers for both boys and girls schools continued their protest for the third consecutive day by boycotting classes in Larkana city on Monday.

They demanded that senior teachers be posted as headmasters in schools.

They alleged that the district officer (elementary) and assistant district officer (elementary) was hindering the process and foiling the plan of the district Nazim.

They demanded that both be removed from their posts.

The association of teachers blamed officials for delaying and complicating the situation.
