PSL to help cricket grow in Quetta: Sarfraz

ISLAMABAD: Quetta Gladiators skipper Sarfraz Ahmed reckons the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will pave the way for the development of cricket in Balochistan and hopes that more cricketers will emerge from Quetta.

Talking to a private news channel, Sarfraz said: “We want to try and take Quetta’s name forward. I hope after this tournament cricket will grow even more in Quetta.

“Generally, Karachi and Lahore had been well known in the national cricket circles but after the [recently-held] PSL, Quetta too can place itself on the cricketing map of Pakistan,” Sarfraz, who is also vice-captain of national ODI and T20 teams, said.

“There is immense talent in Quetta and we saw that in Bismillah Khan. And I’m sure the PSL will help unearth more such players.”

Sarfraz also said that he wasn’t sure how he would be able to captain the Gladiators in the presence of world-class players like Kumar Sangakkara and Kevin Pietersen but added that their good personalities helped him and the team.
