ANKARA: Turkey’s state-run agency says three of its journalists have been kidnapped by Kurdish rebels while they were reporting in a town in southeast Turkey.

Anadolu Agency said on Sunday correspondent Rauf Maltas, photographer Onur Coban and cameraman Kenan Yesilyurt were captured by members of the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, in the town of Nusaybin, near the border with Syria, where Turkey’s security forces are battling Kurdish militants.

The agency said the rebels kidnapped the three on Friday claiming they had not sought the PKK’s permission to film in the area.
