KARACHI, Nov 8: Hoor-e-Mehran, an impressive dark bay filly owned by Syed Sadruddin Shah, should prove her class by picking up the spoils in the main event at the Winter Gymkhana Race Meeting to be held on Sunday at the Karachi Race Course.
The Tanuf-Thundering filly, although carrying the top weight should relish the six furlong journey, leaving the dark bay colt Visitor and the three-year-old chestnut Captain Crash in her wake.
All in all, six events have been chalked out for the racing programme. The first five will be contested over the sprinting distance of five furlongs with the last race on the card going over six. The first race begins at 12.00 noon.
Although letting down his large band of supporters last week, finishing second behind Trust You after being backed for a song, the seven-year-old thoroughbred bay horse Lovely Concept should make amends by sprinting to victory over the five furlongs, chased all the way past the winning post by Caesar’s Palace and Grey Boy, with Royal Lancer and Bull Dancer joining the fray.
Sajjad H. Qureshi’s dark bay colt Pasban from trainer Moheyuddin’s yard, is our fancy to deliver the goods in the next race, although Fantastic Fighter, Sonia and Ring Master will be constant thorns in his side during the five furlong sprint.
Laurel, a five-year-old thoroughbred horse from Abid Ali Jan’s yard is tracking extremely well in the morning workouts and if called upon, should finish the race ahead of Shining Steel, going all out for his second straight victory and the impressive bay colt Star Of The Day.
The fourth race of the afternoon is reserved for 12 two-year-old Pakistani bred colts and fillies, all maidens at the time of starting.
Mega Hit had his colours lowered by Lover’s Lady last Sunday going over six furlongs. However, the thoroughbred horse from Knight Rider out of Bazicha, is still fancied in our columns to win this event from Snake Eyed, a very impressive winner only last week, Satellite Star and the brave hearted Innuendo.
