LAHORE, Nov 8: An unbeaten double-century by opener Salman Butt and half-centuries by Yousaf Youhana and Naumanullah helped National Bank Limited (NBP) pile up 444 for seven in first innings against Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on first day of Patron’s Trophy Inter-departmental qualifying round at LCCA Ground on Saturday.
Salman had scored 252-ball 208, laced with 17 fours after PAF won the toss and put the bankers into bat.
PAF’s right-arm paceman Asif Khan took three wickets for 77.
At Railways Stadium, a fine century by opener Ariz Kamal (113) and unbeaten knock of 93 by Fahadullah Khan helped Karachi Port Trust (KPT) to score an imposing total of 390 for six wickets in first innings against Railways.
Ariz cracked 13 fours in his fine 232-ball knock. Fahadullah, however, showed more aggression hitting nine fours and four towering sixes in his unbeaten 50-ball inning. Medium-pacer Asif Butt took three wickets but conceded 114 runs.
Propelled by centuries by opener and Younis Khan, Habib Bank Limited (HBL) declared their first innings at 345 for four in 67 overs against Pakistan Education Board (PEB) at Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala, according to a message received here.
Riffatullah cored 233-ball 14 while Younis hammered 122 off 114 balls.
By close of play, PEB were in more trouble as they had lost four wickets for 41 with Kabir Khan taking three wickets.
Sui Gas match against Leo International was evenly poised at Sialkot. Batting first Sui Gas declared their innings close at 264 for six wickets. with Saleem Mughal (84) and Mohammed Hafeez (79) batting well. Leo in reply were 45 for one at the close.
Four wickets by paceman Asim Butt for 39 runs helped Service Industries to bundle out Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) at 196 in first innings.
Paceman Jamshed Ahmed (3-36) and Javed Butt (3-61) ably supported Asim.
Only Pakistan all-rounder Abdur Razzaq excelled with the bat by scoring 60 runs.
Service Industries were 98 for one by close of play with Rizwan Ahmad batting 48 and opener Masood Asim batting 36.
Allied Bank Limited (ABL) were all out in first innings after posting a formidable total of 412 in 74.4 overs against SAGA and SAGA Ground.
Farhan Adil (80), Tahir Mughal (57), Manzoor Akhtar (46) and Test wicketkeeper Rashid Latif (47) registered notable knocks.
