Meeting reviews law and order

PESHAWAR, Nov 8: The NWFP government has reviewed the law and order situation in the province with particular reference to the growing activities of the extremist groups.

According to an official statement, a high-level meeting to discuss the law and order situation held here on Saturday.

NWFP Chief Secretary Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi presided the meeting.

The issue of poppy cultivation in the Frontier and the adjacent tribal regions was also discussed in the meeting and it was decided that strict action would be taken against the cultivators of the banned crop.

The meeting was attended by the home secretary, the IGP, the director-general IB, the DIG (special branch) and district heads of the police department.
