PESHAWAR, Dec 28: A meeting of district development committee Lakki Marwat on Friday approved various development schemes worth Rs17.124 million which would be executed under Khushal Pakistan Programme.

The meeting was presided over by district Nazim Lakki Marwat Humayun Saifullah Khan. Out of these schemes, 83 pertain to supply of power at a cost of Rs10.5 million. Under these schemes, 63 new transformers would be installed and 254 new electric poles would be erected.

This would improve the power supply system of Pesco and help resolve the problem of voltage fluctuation in Lakki Marwat to a great extent.

The meeting also approved 70 water supply schemes, having a total cost of Rs6.62 million, to alleviate shortage of drinking water and increase the storage capacity.

Under the water supply schemes, existing tubewells would be rehabilitated, new water storage tanks would be constructed, rain-water ponds would be formed and pipelines would be laid in areas which had not been hooked to water supply network.

The Nazim emphasized that efforts should be made to start execution of these schemes without delay. He directed the executing agencies that no compromise should be made on the quality of work.

Early commencement of work on development schemes would help solve many problems being faced by the general public specially due to drought and low voltage in the area. The Nazim said that project documents i.e. PC-1/cost estimates of remaining schemes be proposed and placed before the DDC as soon as possible.
