HYDERABAD, Nov 7: The Education and Literacy department, Government of Sindh, has issued directives to all the EDOs, Education, that those institutions which were not providing computer facilities should refund immediately the computer fee charged from the students during 2003-04.
An urgent circular issued by the education and literacy department on Nov 6 said that the competent authority has shown grave concern over the non-availability of computer facilities in some of the colleges and higher secondary schools in the province.
The circular further said that this has compelled the government to reconsider its earlier decision of declaring computer education as a compulsory subject and made it optional for this year.
The educational institutions where computer facilities have not been provided have been directed to refund the computer fee charged from the students during the year 2003-04.
JSSF: The Jeay Sindh Students Federation said on Friday that its delegation met with the secretary, Education, Sindh, Ghulam Ali Pasha, and other officials at which the secretary agreed to refund computer fee in those colleges where computer facilities had not been provided.
In a statement issued on Friday, the acting president of the JSSF, Mir Mushtaq Soomro, and its general secretary, Suriah Sindhi, said that due to this decision 18,000 students of Hyderabad district alone would get a refund of Rs9 million.
They said more than 150,000 students will be refunded throughout the province.
They said the secretary education had appointed the EDO (Education), Hyderabad, to conduct inquiries against the principal of the Tando Mohammad Khan Degree College.
SPLA: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association at a meeting held here on Friday condemned the illegal transfer of four teachers of the girls college, Tando Adam, by the EDO (Education), Sanghar, and demanded that the secretary, Education, stop the relieving orders of these teachers.
They further demanded that the junior and inefficient principal of the girls college should be removed and some senior professor should be appointed in her place.
It further demanded that the suspension order of five teachers of the Government Girls College and the Government Boys College of Thatta should be withdrawn and the promotion and move-over cases of college teachers should be disposed of without delay.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Haji Sher Khan Seelro said that no contractor would be allowed to enter any college of Hyderabad region. He said these contractors were trying to blackmail and harass the principals.
