BAHAWALPUR, Nov 6: A division bench of the Lahore High Court set aside on Thursday the sentence awarded to an employee of a clinic by a drug court about three years ago.

Faisal Abbasi was sentenced to six months’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs50,000 by a drug court on the charge of keeping spurious drugs.

A drug inspector had collected medicines’ samples in the absence of the doctor or owner of the clinic which later proved to be spurious.

Faisal Abbasi had challenged his conviction on the grounds that he was an employee at the clinic and could not be held responsible for the acts of his employer.

Justices Farrukh Mahmood Malik and Sheikh Hakim Ali constituted the division bench.
