LAHORE, Nov 6: Two people, including an Auriga Centre trader, were murdered and as many found dead in different parts of the city on Thursday.
Qalandar Ali told police that his brother, Behram Khan (40), the trader, was shot dead by two men a few meters short of the Auriga Centre while returning from his house after Iftar. The culprits escaped firing in the air.
Arshad Chaudhry and Ishaq Chaudhry were nominated in the FIR, as they had a property dispute with the deceased.
A few days ago, Arshad had allegedly attempted to kill a cousin of the deceased, Amanullah, in the Defence Housing Society. A case of attempted murder was registered. The accused was arrested but set free on personal assurance of a senior police officer, it was alleged.
Arshad had since been on bail before arrest and was due to appear in court on Friday (today).
The deceased is survived by a widow and nine children.
His body was sent to the city mortuary for an autopsy. A case was registered with no arrest.
Meanwhile, a man was axed to death allegedly by his wife and her paramour in Muslim Town.
Inayat Bibi told police her son, Noor Elahi (35), was married to Rubina Bibi, who had “developed relations with a neighbour Farooq Dogar”. Rubina was estranged from her husband when he objected to the relationship. She started residing with her parents.
Ms Inayat said Rubina returned to her husband some four days ago “with a plan to kill him”. Rubina allegedly took her husband to the nearby fields where “Farooq Dogar and his accomplices Asif and Kali Dogar axed him to death”.
The body was taken to the city mortuary for an autopsy. A case was registered and the police claimed that they had apprehended Farooq and were conducting raids for the arrest of others.
FOUND DEAD: An unidentified man, around 40 years of age, was found dead in the fields near Dogran village in Batapur.
Saying that the man had been strangled, the police sent the body to the city mortuary for an autopsy. A murder case was registered with no arrest.
The decomposed body of a retired professor, Muhammad Farooq, was recovered from his house at Karnalpura in Wahdat Colony. The police said the professor had long been ill while removing the body to the mortuary. No case was registered.
