Rs295bn released for social sector development

ISLAMABAD: The government has released over Rs295 billion for various projects to be executed under the Public Sector Develop­ment Programme 2015-16, against a total allocation of Rs700bn.

According to the data released by the Planning Commission, the government has released Rs31.25bn for infrastructure development projects under the National Highway Authority against an allocation of Rs159.6bn.

An amount of Rs62.83bn has been released for power projects of Wapda against Rs113.88bn earmarked for the purpose. Another Rs12.16bn has been released, against an allocation of Rs30.12bn, for building mega water reservoirs.

The Higher Education Commission has been given Rs18.69bn, against Rs31.10bn.

So far, Rs18.49bn has been released for the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission projects against the earmarked Rs30.40bn.
