LARKANA, Nov 5: The People’s Party Parliamentarian and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) staged rallies in different parts of Sindh on Wednesday, demanding release of Javed Hashmi and Asif Zardari.
A rally was staged here under the auspices of Larkana PPP.
Speaking on the occasion, Sindh PPP President Nisar Ahmad Khuhro said Pakistan had been isolated in the world due to what he called wrong policies of the government.
He criticized the government for not respecting court verdicts as, he said, despite being granted bail in 13 cases, Mr Asif still in jail which showed the government wanted to keep him under detention.
Mr Khuhro said the rulers were keeping him behind the bars only to pressurize party chairperson Benazir Bhutto. However, he said Ms Bhutto would not succumb to these tactics of the government.
He said the PPP believed in supremacy of the Constitution but the government was not respecting it that was why the people were not approaching courts for justice.
The PPP leader accused the rulers of creating hatred among the people and encroaching upon the rights and resources of the provinces.
The leader of opposition in the Sindh Assembly said the arrest of Alliance for Restoration of Democracy president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi had exposed the designs of the rulers.
MPA Munawwar Ali Abbasi also spoke at the rally.
Earlier, Mr Khuhro, Mr Abbasi, Abdul Khaliq Bhutto, Khair Mohammad Shaikh and other party leaders led a protest procession from the Kennedy Market.
The protestors, carrying banners and placards, after marching through the main roads of the city, converged outside the Jinnah Bagh.
They were demanding release of Mr Zardari, Mr Hashmi and other political prisoners.
NAWABSHAH: Activists of the PPP took out a procession here to demand the release of ex-senator Asif Ali Zardari.
Protesters, led by MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio, marched from the PPP office and dispersed after reaching the local press club.
PML-N: Workers of the PML-N also took out a procession here against the arrest of party leader Javed Hashmi.
Nawabshah district PML-N president Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, led the procession which started from the PML-N house and culminated outside the local press club.
KHAIRPUR: PPP workers held two protest demonstrations here against the continuous detention of PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari.
The PPP, ladies wing, Khairpur, took out a protest rally under the leadership of MPA Dr Mehreen Bhutto from her residence at Jilani Mohalla.
Another procession was taken out from Wassan House. It was led by MPA Nawaz Wassan.
MIRPURKHAS: PPP activists took out a rally from the PPP district office and staged a sit-in here to protest against the detention of Asif Ali Zardari.
The activists of the PML-N youth wing held a demonstration at the Market Chowk here on Tuesday to protest against the arrest of PML(N) acting president, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi.
They were led by its former president, Mirpurkhas district, Raja Tanveer.
Carrying banners and placards, they demanded that Mr Makhdoom be released as soon as possible.
