PESHAWAR, Nov 4: A two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday sought comments from the director-general of the National Accountability Bureau (NWFP) and another official in a writ petition filed by a resident of Mardan, accusing them of harassing him.
The petitioner, Shakeel Qadir, said that he was summoned to the NAB office by the respondents — DG NAB Air Vice Marshal Hifazatullah Khan and another official Major Shakeel - to give information about his brother’s assets.
He said that he informed the officials that he was not aware of his brother’s properties as he was now living in Canada with his family.
However, he said, the officials claimed that properties belonging to him were in fact owned by his brother, Fazal Qadir, and kept on harassing him.
Advocate Fazal Ilahi Khan appeared for the petitioner and argued that he was not a public office holder and was not responsible for his brother’s deeds.
He requested the court to accept the petition and direct the respondents not to harass the petitioner. After preliminary hearing, the bench directed the two respondents to file comments and explain their position.
