Inflated bills: labourer threatens suicide
SIALKOT, Nov 3: A labourer of Pasrur has threatened that he will commit suicide in front of the office of Gepco’s sub-division No 3 on Nov 5 as a protest against issuance of inflated bills by the company for quite some time now.
Talking to newsmen on Friday, Nasrullah Bajwa, a resident of Bhagatpur village, said he had been earning bread for his family through hard work. The Gepco authorities, he complained, had been dispatching inflated bills at his place. Whenever he visited the relevant officials, they asked him to change his electricity meter to get rid of the problem, he said.
He alleged that line superintendent Riaz and the meter reader took Rs1,000 as a bribe from him for changing his electricity meter four months ago, but they had yet to replace it and were demanding more money.
The labourer added that he had given Nov 4 as deadline to the power company to redress his grievance, otherwise, he would commit suicide in front of the sub-division No 3.
