HYDERABAD, Nov 2: Six teacher members of the Sindh Agriculture University syndicate have opposed the contractual appointments at the deficit-ridden institution.

In a memorandum submitted to the vice-chancellor and chairman syndicate of the university here on Saturday, they appealed to him to refrain from making appointments in the existing system.

They also appealed to the Sindh governor and chancellor of the university to take notice of the situation by way of restricting the VC to only perform his routine duties.

They said unnecessary and contractual appointments must be stopped to save the university from financial crisis.

The signatories to the memorandum include former VC Prof (Dr) Rajab A Memon, Prof Amir Ali Kadri, Prof Dr Umed Ali Buriro, Suresh Kumar Wadhwani, Riasat Ali Kubbar and Mujahid Hussain Laghari.

Meanwhile, the VC has written to teacher members of the syndicate on Oct 31 that the university was his alma mater, therefore, the question of nepotism and favouritism in new appointments did not arise.

He assured the syndicate that no appointment would be made in haste.

He said as the VC he was obliged to perform his duties till the last day of his tenure and added that statements by syndicate members were damaging the image of the university.
