GUJRANWALA, Nov 1: Sadar tehsil council Naib Nazim Sardar Inamul Haq and other members accused Nazim Mubashar Ahmed Cheema of stealing the record of a no-trust motion passed against him by a majority of the house.
Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, they revealed that the Nazim and tehsil officers had visited the tehsil council office and got all rooms locked after taking out important record and documents.
They said that watchman Muhammad Arshad, who was also present on the occasion, confirmed that the Nazim had taken away the record.
Later, the Naib Nazim and other members called on DIG Altaf Qamar and DCO Fazeel Asgher. On their orders, a police team reached the tehsil council office and broke open its lock in the presence of the Naib Nazim and other members.
Naib Nazim Sardar Inamul Haq and opposition leader Adnan Balagan demanded that the government should withdraw executive powers of Nazim Mubashar Ahmed Cheema.
ACCEPTED: A local Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 on Saturday accepted the bail application of two Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leaders in a circus fire case.
The judge also directed them to deposit Rs50,000 surety bonds each.
Activists of MMA and Shabab-i-Milli had given a deadline to the district administration and police to eliminate obscenity and gambling in circuses a few months ago. They had also threatened of uprooting the circuses if the police and administration failed to take any action against their managements.
Later, around 200 activists of MMA and Shabab-i-Milli attacked a circus and set it on fire when the police and district administration did not pay any heed to their warnings.
The police had registered a case against 200 activists and leaders, including MNA Maulana Qazi Hamidullah, SM district chief Hafiz Hameeduddin Awan, JUI-F district president Syed Abdul Malik Shah and Maulana Ayub Safdar.
Among them, Hafiz Hameeduddin and 19 other activists were already bailed, while Maulana Syed Abdul Malik Shah and Maulana Ayub Safder were released on bail on Saturday.
