LAHORE, Oct 30: An attempted murder accused has allegedly been set free on the “personal guarantee” of Gulberg ASP.

Complainant Amanullah Khan, a businessman at Auriga Shopping Complex, Gulberg, said he narrowly escaped a bid on his life by his rivals in Defence Housing Society on Oct 25. He identified two of the five attackers as Chaudhry Arshad and Sher Gull.

He claimed the police did nothing to arrest the accused.

Mr Khan said he saw Arshad at the shopping centre on Oct 29 and rang up Defence police who arrested him.

He claimed Arshad was released on the personal assurance of ASP Muhammad Ali Nekokar that he would produce himself before the police next morning.

Mr Khan said the accused never turned up. Even, he alleged, he and police contacted the accused in the evening but he switched off his cell phone.

However, the ASP showed his ignorance about the incident. —Reporter
