BEIJING, Oct 29: Pakistan and China have agreed to enter into an extradition treaty aimed at exchanging prisoners and holding their trial in their own country according to the prevailing laws and conditions.

A formal agreement to this effect will be signed during the visit of President Pervez Musharraf to Beijing on Nov 3.

Official sources told APP that the two sides had agreed to extradite to each others’ countries any person within their territories wanted for criminal offences.

The proposed treaty will help the two friendly countries work in close cooperation in the fight against narcotics trafficking and illegal immigration.

It will also enable them to exchange views and information on criminal offences.

The two sides have complete understanding on this issue, the sources said, adding that the treaty will lessen the hardship and grievances of the affected people taken into custody on the ground of violating local laws and regulations.—APP
