ISLAMABAD, Oct 28: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Tuesday asked members of parliament to participate in the proceedings of the House and ensure that the quorum is maintained.
Talking to newsmen after presiding over a meeting of the parliamentary party of the Pakistan Muslim League and its allied parties before the session, the prime minister said the treasury benches were serious in running the business of the House and the main aim of the meeting of the parliamentary party was to plan and run the business of the House smoothly.
Earlier, talking to lawmakers who met Mr Jamali in his chamber, the prime minister urged them to continue working for ameliorating the lot of their electorate.
Those who met the premier were: Senator Shahzad Wasim, Chaudhry Shahbaz (with Farrukh Altaf, Jhelum Nazim), Brig (retd) Zulfikar Dhillon, Muhammad Shah Khaga, Mazhar Qureshi, Nawab Amanullah, Rajab Ali Baloch, Ahmad Raza Manika, Abdul Qadus Rajar and Faiz Taman.
The prime minister said the government was striving to improve the qualify of life of the people. “Special emphasis is being laid on provision of basic necessities of life along with improvement in health and education facilities and expansion in communications network,” he said.
He asked parliamentarians to maintain a close contact with the people and make every effort to resolve their problems.
He also urged them to participate actively in the proceedings of parliament.
The parliamentarians briefed the prime minister about the matters pertaining to their respective constituencies especially the progress with regard to development schemes of their areas.
They congratulated the prime minister on his successful visits to Iran and the United States.
They also lauded his role in holding meaningful and useful dialogues with the leadership of these countries.
The parliamentarians also reposed full confidence in the leadership of the prime minister.
FATA LAWMAKERS: A group of lawmakers from Federally- Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) also called on the prime minister on Tuesday at the Parliament House and exchanged views with him on development matters and schemes being carried out in their area.—APP
