New Delhi suggests dates for air link talks

NEW DELHI, Oct 27: India has proposed two sets of dates in November to Pakistan for next round of technical level talks to resolve the issue of restoring air links between the two countries.

The new dates suggested to Islamabad are November 3 and 4 or November 10 and 11, said a news item quoting sources at the external affairs ministry here Monday.

The first round of talks on the restoration of civil aviation links was held in Rawalpindi on Aug 28 which ended with-out yielding any positive result.

However, the two sides had decided to meet again for further negotiations.

While announcing twelve peace proposals last week, India said that discussions at the technical level on resumption of rail service would be undertaken after a positive outcome of technical level talks on the resumption of civil aviation links between the two countries.

Earlier, a brief joint statement issued at the end of the first round of talks held in last August in Rawalpindi had said the discussion helped the two sides to understand each other’s positions. —APP
