Mithi-Naukot road lying in ruins

MITHI, Oct 27: The poor quality Mithi-Naukot road has developed potholes and craters at several spots and is causing inconvenience to commuters, and if not repaired soon, it is most likely to cause fatal accidents in the near future.

The 50km road was constructed years back, without levelling the sand, merely from bitumen and sand. The rains this year and heavy traffic have turned the road into a shambles which is causing wear and tear to the vehicles plying on it.

Coasters, which took an hour to cover the distance from Mithi to Naokot, are now taking an hour and a half owing to the dilapidated condition of the road.

Loaded trucks coming from Karachi or Hyderabad either get stuck or overturn while driving up the high shabby road.

The government has spent a large amount for its repair in the past, but as the contractors use substandard material, the condition of the road has not improved even a bit.
