Junior tennis tournament begins

LAHORE: Twelve matches each in the under-18 qualifying round and first round were decided on the first day of Nayza National Junior Tennis Tournament at the Bagh-i-Jinnah grassy courts here on Monday.

More than 150 kids from all over Pakistan came to participate in this event.

Boys from Salamat School System, SNGPL, different tennis clubs of Punjab, Sindh and Islamabad are also participating in it.

Former Davis Cupper and incumbent PLTA secretary Rasheed Malik told the kids about their bright future in tennis, as the game was growing in the country.

The competitions are being held in U-10, 12, 14 besides U-18 age categories.

Results:

U-18 qualifying round: Bilal Kabeer bt Usman Shoket 8-0; Hashim Gillani bt Behzad Shahid 9-7; Abdul Sami bt Sherhryar Sheraz 8-6; Bilal Zia bt Bhawal Ahmad 8-5; Ahmer bt Syed Dawar 8-4; Ahmad Kamil bt Zain Imran 8-3, Bilal Kabir bt Hashim Gillani 8-4; Jamal Shaikh bt Irfan Mugal 8-4; Mustafa Ali bt Kamil Khan 8-2; Abdul Sami bt Bilal Zia 8-6; Arzam bt Ahmar 8-4; Ahmad Kamil bt  Hamza Mairaj 8-0.
