GUJRANWALA, Oct 23: A no-trust movement was initiated against Saddar tehsil Nazim Mubashir Ahmad Cheema at a meeting, here on Thursday.

Of the 56 members of the house, 34 supported the movement by signing papers. Balloting will be held on Friday (today).

Reports reaching here revealed that most of the members were dissatisfied with the tehsil Nazim’s policies he had introduced in the last one year. They urged him time and again to change his policies, but he reportedly turned a deaf ear to all their pleas.

At a district council meeting presided over by Naib Nazim Sardar Inamul Haq, a member, Muhammad Waris, tabled a no-trust movement against the Nazim while Chaudhry Kaleem Akhtar corroborated it.

The Saddar tehsil Nazim, they alleged, had failed to perform his duties according to law and introduced defective policies.

Accepting the move, the convener fixed Friday for counting through secret balloting under the local government laws.

The tehsil Nazim was not present at the meeting. However, his supporters, Malik Amanat Ali, Siddiq, Iftikhar Shah and Naeem Butt, resented the movement.
