Wapda lifters shatter 11 records

LAHORE, Oct 22: Eleven new national records were created on the first day of two-day National Powerlifting Championship  which started at  the Punjab University Grounds, Old  Campus on Wednesday.

All new records were established by Wapda contestants. Wapda, also the defending champions, are leading with 30 points. Punjab with 29 points and Customs with 10 were at the second and the third positions, respectively.

Results: (weight of three weight events, squat, bench press, dead lift =total):

52kgs: Ansar Mahmood (Punjab) 160, 102.5,  170=432.5; Muhammad Sarfraz (Islamabad) 150, 90, 185=426; Abdul Razzaq (Customs) 130, 95, 130=355.

56kgs: Muhammad Zahid (Wapda) 200, 82.5, 211 (New  Record),492.5; Jahanzaib Iqbal (Wapda), 170, 100, 190,460; Pervaiz Rehmat (Punjab) 140, 90, 205, 435.

60kgs: Sheraz Butt (Wapda), 232.5 New Record, 145.5 New  Record, 210=  587.5  New  Record; Nasir Ashraf (Punjab), 187.5, 107.5, 197.5=492.5; Adeel (Islamabad) 155, 100, 170=426.

67.5  kgs: Adeel Rana (Wapda), 260 New Record, 160  New  Record, 260=680  New  Record; Kashif Iqbal (Punjab)  180,  95,  180=455; Kamran Akram (Islamabad) 150, 95, 185, 430.
