Relatives beat policemen to free outlaw

SIALKOT, Oct 21: The relatives of a local proclaimed offender got him freed from a police party, which was carrying him to the police station, at Gujraal village, here on Tuesday.

They thrashed the police officials and tore their uniform before taking to heels.

Reports said a team of the Kotli Said Ameer police station, headed by SHO Syed Mushtaq Shah, raided Gujraal village from where they arrested PO Dilawar Husain alias Kallu. They also recovered a pistol from him.

The team comprising ASIs, Muhammad Akram and Muhammad Asghar, head constable Muhammad Asif and five constables was taking the PO to the police station when some of his relatives attacked it with iron rods and hockey sticks. They beat the officials, tore their uniforms and fled after getting Dilawar freed.

Police have registered a case against the relatives of the PO on various charges. However, they have yet to arrest any of them.

Meanwhile, three POs, Azeem alias Jeemi, Ehsanullah alias Munshi and Ashraf alias Achhu, escaped from Satrah, Daska and Sambrial police stations, respectively.

ACCUSED AT LARGE: The district police have failed to capture the four accused, who escaped from the Sialkot judicial lock-up by digging a toilet’s wall, on Monday afternoon.

Taking serious notice of this incident, the district police officer on Tuesday suspended from service sub-inspector Yousaf, in-charge judicial guard Muhammad Ashraf and three other police officials, including Ghulam Ali and Nisar Ahmad, for breach of duty.

The Civil Line police have registered a case against these police officials and arrested them.

NARCOTICS: The Muradpur police have seized 17 kilograms of charas being smuggled to the district from Peshawar by a passenger bus, during a search operation at a police picket at China Chowk on the Kashmir Road, on Tuesday.

The police have arrested two smugglers, Ikhtiyar Khan and Tariq Khan, against whom investigation is under way.
