SANGHAR, Oct 21: The district and sessions judge, Sanghar, Mir Nabi Bux Talpur, has begun an inquiry on Tuesday into the killing of Shazia Khaskheli and Hassan Solangi on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Ali Sarewal, Medico-legal officer Jaleel Memon, Dr Shabbir Ahmed Shena, Mohammad Bux Solangi (Hassan Solangi’s father), Mir Mohammad Solangi (Hassan’s brother), and Mir Hassan Khaskheli (Shazia’s father) were interrogated by the district and sessions judge.
Mohammad Bux Solangi said that they came to know about the murder through newspapers.
He further stated that the deceased had phoned him that he would be going abroad for four months.
Mir Mohammad Solangi said as soon as they came to learn about the murders they went to the Sanghar police station to lodge an FIR but the police refused to do so.
He said when they went to the Civil Hospital to claim the bodies, they were told that Hassan Solangi’s body had been handed over to the Edhi Centre, and added that they then contacted the Edhi Centre from where they got it.
He said that his brother was killed by the Khaskhelis after they had severely tortured him, and added that they had broken his limbs and backbone before shooting him dead.
He presented the Nikahnama and other documents related to Shazia and Hassan Solangi’s marriage to the judge.
Hassan Solangi’s maternal uncle, Sikandar Solangi, said that the police was well aware as to who the killers were.
Shazia’s father, Mir Hassan Khaskheli, said that he was not present at home the day his daughter was killed, and added that his car, which was taken away in his absence, was used in the killing.
He stated that he had pardoned his daughter but some Khaskheli tribesmen did not accept it and killed both Hassan and Shazia. He stated that the killers had surrendered themselves before the police and were released after being investigated.
The civil surgeon and medical officers also presented their post-mortem reports.
