Two get death sentence

KASUR, Oct 19: The Chunian additional district and sessions judge on Saturday handed down death sentence with a fine of Rs200,000 each to Ashfaq and Boota and life term with a fine of Rs200,000 to Sher Mohammed in a triple murder case.

The court also awarded two-year imprisonment with a fine of Rs25,000 each to Zakir Husain and Yar Mohammed in the same case, and acquitted Abdul Ghafar by giving him the benefit of the doubt.

According to the prosecution, the convicts had shot dead Mehr Din, his wife Bilqees Bibi and daughter Rukhsana Bibi for pursuing a case some one-and-a-half years ago.

KIDNAPPED: Two persons were kidnapped in separate incidents here on Sunday.

Shaukat Masih along with three accomplices entered the house of Liaquat Ali in Bhedian Ganda Singhwala and kidnapped his niece, Razia (18).

In Bahadarpura, Ashraf was abducted allegedly by Iqbal and three accomplices.

INJURED: A man was injured by two dacoits near Doleywala, Saddar, on Sunday.

Amjad Ali, Dawood Hayat and Khizar Hayat were going to Husain Khanwala on a motorcycle when they were intercepted by two armed men. When Khizar Hayat put up resistance, the bandits opened fire on him, injuring him seriously. The injured was shifted to a Lahore hospital.
