KARACHI: Man kills himself

KARACHI, Oct 19: A man committed suicide at a house in railway quarters in the Al-Falah police limits on Sunday.

Police said that Gul Mohammad sent his wife and two children to one of his relatives and went to a neighbouring quarter which belonged to his maternal uncle. He told his uncle to wake him up in the afternoon as he had to go to work. Later when his uncle went inside the room, he saw the body of Gul Mohammad hanging from a ceiling fan.

Police dispatched the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for the postmortem examination. Believed it to be a suicide case, police closed the case file after completion of legal proceedings. The body was later handed over to the family for burial.

BURNS: Four people of a family suffered burns in their home in Liaquatabad on Saturday.

Police said that Zainab, her two sons Aslam and Asif, and a daughter Sobia, suffered burns when their house caught fire. The fire was soon put out, but in the process all the four suffered injuries. Edhi sources said that the victims were taken to the Civil Hospital. The cause of the fire could not be known immediately, police said.

BURGLARY: A burglary of three kilogram of gold was committed at a jeweller’s shop in Shah Faisal Colony.

Police said that a burglary was committed at Zawi Jeweller in Falak Naz View in Shah Faisal Colony No.1, in which the burglars took away three kilogram of gold worth Rs2.12 million. Amir Zulfiqar complained that he found the locks broken and the gold missing from the shop when he opened it in the morning.

However, police suspect a foul play as the shop is insured and proper safety measures were not taken by the owner of the shop.

A senior police official said an investigation had begun into the incident.
