PAEC oncology conference starts

MULTAN, Oct 18: The two-day PAEC National Oncology Conference began here on Saturday.

Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) chairman Pervez Butt who opened the moot said the commission was running 13 medical centres all over the country where some 300,000 cancer patients were being treated annually.

Mr Butt said new medical centres were being set up at Nawabshah, Gilgit, Swat, Gujranwala and Bannu. He said he had diverted funds to upgrade the PAEC medical facilities at Hyderabad, Larkana and Quetta.

The PAEC chairman called upon the philanthropists to play their role in fighting cancer.

He praised the role of the Shaukat Khanum Hospital in this regard.

Dr Kausar Abdullah Malik and Dr Amjad Aziz also addressed the gathering.—APP
