SIALKOT, Oct 17: The Sialkot district government has announced that it will construct a Rs60 million park near the famous picnic spot of Head Marala in collaboration with the local business community.
The announcement was made by Sialkot district Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid at a meeting of the District Advisory Committee here on Friday.
He said that the tourism department had also promised to establish 18 huts at the proposed park. The district government had also completed its plan for renovation and modernization of the ancient Sheranwala Bagh in Sialkot cantonment.
The DCO, Capt Zahid Saeed (Retired), told the meeting that construction of a trauma centre, an international airport, a hockey stadium, a labour colony, water filtration plants, a medical college and a women university was under way.
He said that two water filtration plants were being installed in each of the 122 union councils.
The meeting was told that construction of Sialkot labour colony was in final stages and as many as 504 residential plots would be allotted to labourers through a draw.
The district Nazim disclosed that two more labour colonies would be established in Ghuenky (Sialkot) and Sambrial (Daska).
He said that the district government had spent Rs230 million on renovation and construction of schools last year.
