Bandits kill villager

DADU, Dec 24: Two armed bandits barged into the house of Imam Bux Lund in Dholan Lund village, near Bhan Saeedabad town, here on Sunday night.

Armed men held the family members hostage, looted Rs1,000 cash, other valuable goods and attempted to take away one buffalo.

One of the inmates, Imam Bux, 40, raised alarm and offered resistance and was gunned down by the armed men on the spot.

Armed men threw his body into a well and managed to escape.

The police party with the help of villagers fished out the body from the well on Monday morning. The body was handed over to the relatives after autopsy.

The Bhan Saeedabad police have registered a murder case against two armed men under section 302 PPC.

TWO COPS DISMISSED: Two policemen, Abdul Hameed Soomro and Taj Mohammad Malik, of Police Line, Dadu, were dismissed from their service by the SSP of Dadu on Monday for not performing their duties properly when four outlaws were looting cash and other valuable goods from the manager and other staff of Bhittai Petrol Pump, owned by a former Sindh chief minister, Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi, some 16 days back on the Indus Highway.

CRUSHED: Dr Afzal Ahmed, resident of Bahawalpur, was crushed to death under the wheels of a train at Kotri railway station late Sunday night while crossing the railway track.
