Digging of wells in Thar villages demanded

MITHI, Dec 24: The district council, Tharparkar, passed 39 resolutions at the motions moved by its members in the council’s third day’s sessions held on Monday.

It urged the government to extend the date at least for six months for filing computerized national identity card forms, besides exempting the poor Tharis from their fees, renovating archaeological sites, installing coal-fired power plants besides exploration and exploitation of coal deposits, sanctioning buildings and SNE of schools, installing tube-wells and digging wells in various villages and installing more feeders for providing electricity to the villages.

Convener Ramsingh Sodho, presided and conducted the proceedings of the session.

Council member Rahmatullah Rahoomo, moving a resolution on the floor, demanded of the government to extend the date of filing the forms of computerized NICs for six months, especially for Tharis because hardly 30 per cent of them had been able to fill these forms whereas thousands of them could not do so because of poverty.

Moving a resolution, council member, Bherulal Soother urged the council to move the government to expedite the work of exploration and exploitation of coal deposits besides installing a coal-based power plant in Thar and providing employment to youths who had already completed the required training for coal-related jobs.

The council unanimously passed another resolution and urged Hesco to provide electricity to all the villages situated at a distance of upto seven kilometres including Malahnore Veena, Mithrio Bhati, Bughar, Barach, Joglar, Mithraou Daal, Loondhar and other villages.

Member Allah Warayo Bajir passed a resolution demanding fee remission be granted for Thari youths. He said that the majority of Tharis were impoverished whose off-spring were unable to afford exorbitant fees of colleges and had to abandon their studies owing to poverty.

Councillors Dost Ali and Abdul Latif Rahmoon and some other members passed resolutions at its session and urged the relevant authorities to install tube wells in Mithrio Halepoto, Tigosar, Hiror Gul, Janjhi, Taj M. Shah, Jethar, Mithrio Dahar, Mithraou Daal, Bhagisal, Allahdad Jo Taar, Hayat Halepoto, Gul M. Rind, Megho Jo Taar, Meenhal Bajir, and other water-starved villages.

The council passed some other resolutions pertaining to digging of wells in Dindario, Taj M. Shah (Alam Paro), Ishaque Taar, Bhanbario, Misri Shah, Mamchero, Soya, Ghoti, Chanindo and Pobuhar villages.
