PTI ‘finalises’ strategy for NA-122 and PP-147 by-election

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) claims to have finalised a strategy to successfully contest by-polls on NA-122 and PP-147 in Lahore.

Both seats recently fell vacant as a result of election tribunals’ decision against winning PML-N candidates Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Mohsin Lateef.

PTI Punjab Organiser Chaudhry Sarwar presided over a meeting here on Tuesday to give a final shape to the election campaign plan for the by-polls. It was attended by PTI candidates Abdul Aleem Khan and Shoaib Siddiqui, MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal, Deputy Organiser Punjab Omar Cheema and Lahore Organiser Mehar Wajid Azeem.

The meeting also decided to invite senior party leadership, including Chairman Imran Khan and National Organiser Shah Mahmood Qureshi to address rallies, corner meetings and other events. Party workers and candidates would also go door to door to deliver the chairman’s message to constituents. The party’s plans to resolve various national issues would be presented to the public in these meetings. It was also decided that alleged government inefficiencies, corruption and failures on various fronts would be exposed.

Sarwar feared the PML-N would not hesitate to use government to rig the by-polls and announced deployment of PTI’s ‘Tigers Force’ at all polling booths to monitor and resist any attempts.

He also drew attention of the Election Commission towards “disregard” of election’s code of conduct by the PML-N and demanded the commission take notice of use of public funds to manage public votes. He also hoped people would not vote “looters and oppressors” and the PTI would be victorious in the contest.
