HYDERABAD, Oct 15: Tribute was paid to Ibrahim Munshi, a noted poet of Sindh, for his services in the cause of Sindhi language and literature at a condolence meeting held here on Tuesday night.
The function was organized by the Sindh Education Trust in cooperation with the Qaleech Sangat.
Speaking on the occasion, renowned scholar and intellectual Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo said the late Munshi was a patriot and a people’s poet.
He announced that unpublished works of the poet would be published by the SET on priority basis. He further said the trust would also publish articles on the life and poetry of Ibrahim Munshi in a book form.
Sindh National Council leader Hussain Bux Thebo said the voice of the late Munshi was the voice of Sindh.
Altaf Rind in his speech said he was a poet of the poor.
Sindh Hari Committee president Azhar Jatoi said Munshi was a poet of resistance and he had shown the path of struggle for achieving Sindh’s rights.
The son of the late poet, Tariq Soomro, said his father loved Sindh more than his own family.
The others who spoke on the occasion included Yousuf Leghari, Taj Joyo, Mehrun Nisa Larik, Prof Aijaz Qureshi and Roshan Sundar Chandio.
