KARAK: The internally displace persons of Razmak, North Waziristan, living in Karak district have demanded ration and Rs12,000 monthly financial help, saying that they are unable even to pay the rent of their houses.

The demand was made by tribal chieftains, including Malik Said Alam Wazir, Malik Jan, Malik Shahideen and Malik Deen Marjan, at a joint press conference here on Wednesday. They said that around 300 families of IDPs were living in Karak district.

They said that the government was providing ration and Rs12,000 to each family of the displaced people, but so far it had not extended any such help to them. They said that they had not paid the power, gas and water bills to the owners of their houses as they had no money.

The elders said that they had not celebrated Eidul Fitr this time as they had no money for buying sweets, new clothes, etc. They demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor to allow grant of the ration and financial help for the IDPs living in Karak district immediately.

POS HELD: District police officer, Karak, Mohammad Javaid Khan said on Wednesday that the police had arrested 43 proclaimed offenders during the search and strike operations and also seized weapons and drugs from their possession. He was talking to mediapersons here. He said that the police had intensified their operation against criminals.

The DPO said that during the operations the police had arrested 43 proclaimed offenders and recovered five Kalashnikovs, two rifles, four guns, 27 pistols, 751 cartridges, four magazines, 10 kilogrammes of opium and five kilogrammes hashish from their possessions. He claimed that 126 people were charge-sheeted and presented before the courts.
