SOME months ago, Rawalpindi cantonment authorities and the NHA did a commendable safety job by installing speed-breakers at the U-turn on Jhelum Road near Golf Road. This U-turn is well-known for countless minor, major and fatal accidents in the past.
Unfortunately, the installed imported cats-eyes and metal speed-breakers are breaking up and allowing vehicles to overspeed, endangering public safety.
The authorities concerned should consider long-lasting speed-breakers made of tough tiles similar to ones in Bahria Town Phase VII and DHA-I, Islamabad, which slow down the traffic but facilitate smooth driving.
