124 illegal Pakistani immigrants held in Iran

QUETTA: Iranian authorities arrested 124 Pakistanis after they had crossed into Iran illegally.

The Iranian officials informed Pakistani authorities about the arrest of 124 illegal immigrants and handed them over to Pakistani officials in Taftan.

“They all belong to different areas of Punjab province and crossed into Iran through unfrequented routes without having valid travelling documents,” a Pakistani border official posted at Taftan told Dawn over telephone.

They have been handed over to Federal Investigation Agency for interrogation.

The Pakistanis returned had arrived in Taftan after paying a heavy amount to agents in Punjab in order to reach European countries via Iran and Turkey through illegal routes.

The FIA arrests thousands of Pakistanis every year from Taftan and other border areas in Balochistan who want to reach European countries for jobs.
