SANGHAR, Oct 9: The relatives of Shazia Hassan Khaskheli, 20, who was shot dead along with her husband on Wednesday, are neither mourning her death nor are ready to receive condolence from anybody.
Police have arrested the girl’s father, Mir Hassan Khaskheli, who is a manager at the Muslim Commercial Bank Limited here, along with two other relatives on murder charges.
She had married Mohammad Hassan Solangi against her parents wishes and left her parents’ house to live with her husband some 10 days back.
A case was registered against Solangi by the Sanghar police under section 11/16 Hudood Ordinance.
Police was putting pressure on Mr Solangi’s relatives to produce her. So he met the DPO, investigation, on Tuesday. The DPO summoned him the next day along with the girl.
On the fateful day, the woman’s relatives chased their car and caught them just in front of the DPO’s residence. They were kidnapped in front of dozens of witnesses.
It was learnt from reliable sources that several people had called the police to inform them about the incident but in vain as the latter did nothing to save the couple.
CONDEMNED: The human rights groups and the Aurat Foundation have condemned the killing of the couple.
Ms Tahira, who is member of the Taluka Council and the Citizens Action Committee, said it was a murder case and the killers should not get away with Karo-kari or honour killings.
She condemned the role of the police saying that the police had more than two hours to save the couple but they did not.
