HARIPUR, Oct 8: Pakistan, being the 5th biggest milk producing country in the world possesses great potential of enhancing its milk, meat, and poultry production to the optimum level, and can play important role in reduction of poverty from the country, if government’s patronage and well thought out planning is ensured.
The participants at a day-long workshop arranged here by the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) Hazara expressed these views, on Tuesday.
The participants while sharing their experiences and problems in this regard said that Pakistan in spite of having plenty of natural resources could not achieve desired results in eradication of poverty due to certain impediments in exploiting these precious resources.
They were of the view that these resources could be utilized and directed towards betterment of locals only through better care of livestock.
Production of meat, milk and poultry products could be doubled through use of modern technologies and proper attention, they said.
They also stressed on the need of better and effective planning in this regard.
The officials of Barani Area Development Project informed the participants, that training programmes at village level were being organized for development of livestock, agriculture, and poultry and expected to produce positive results.
Officials from agriculture, livestock and office bearers of PVMA also participated in the workshop.
