SUKKUR, Oct 7: A three- year-old girl was married off with a four-year-old boy in the Sahibabad Jagirani village, near Kandhra, on Sunday following a Jirga decision over a Karo-kari dispute.
The dispute arose six months ago when Master Dad Mohammad Jagirani was declared to be a Karo (adulterer) after he married a girl, Gul Naz, who was already betrothed to Tawakkal Ali Jagirani.
Later, Ali attacked Mohammad and injured him. This led to mounting of tension between both the groups. Both the groups registered eight cases against each other in which at least 100 persons from both sides were booked.
Presided over by Sardar Sundar Khan Sundrani, a Jirga was held to settle the dispute but its verdict was not approved by both groups.
The DPO, Sukkur, Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh, held an open kutchehry in Kandhra and asked both the groups to resolve the matter in a traditional way, threatening strict action against them.
Again a Jirga was held in which Sardar Sundrani decided that the minor daughter of Mohammad, Nadia, should be married off with Arshad, son of Fakir Mohammad, relative of the unmarried Ali, to resolve the dispute.
The Nikah of the minor children was solemnized in Kandhra.
The minor bride will stay with her parents till she reaches the age of puberty.
