RAWALPINDI, Oct 7: A Patwari and his accomplice were awarded three years rigorous imprisonment each by the special anti- corruption court here on Tuesday for selling government land on forged documents.
Patwari Shafique, and his accomplice, Mohammad Afsar, will also pay Rs60,000 each as fine, the judge, Mohammad Aslam Khan, observed in his decision.
According to the prosecution, both the convicts had been booked by the anti-corruption department for transferring some government land to their names and later selling it to another person.
The judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court No 1, Manzoor Ahmed Mirza, recorded the statement of a prosecution witness, Hamid Nawaz, in the famous Shah-i-Najaf terrorism case. The court also adjourned the hearing till October 21.—Our Reporter
